Your buddy can buy a HogTunes rear speakers/pods/amp/wiring harness kit designed for your buddy's '06 or newer SG, EG, RG. Ebay price on the kit is about $350. This will not have rear passenger controls, so the pods are smooth on the sides unlike the HD's which have switches on the sides.
He can also buy the HD pods/speakers and he will spend north of $500.
These will have rear passenger controls for volume, mode, etc.
Another option is to buy pods from Eglidegoodies or Dragonfly Concepts for $200 (they accept 6.5" speakers), buy speakers and make-up his own wiring harness.
If he wants intercom and/or CB, he's pretty much limited to the HD product.
I bought a set of HD rear speakers and pods with outside controls from a board member for $125.00....I've changed my mind about using them, give me my money back and he can have these....look great, never hooked them up....
