Rizzo, since you do have this can you answer some of the questions that I asked when I started this thread? I do see that you have frenched in some bag lights. I am trying to avoid anything in the bags so I do not have to deal with the wires when removing the bags. What do you have lighting up the plate? How was the installation? Is there any excessive vibration since it is fiberglass? More close up pictures would be great as well.
Sorry but I'm not much help. Mine is all steel and built in '03 but looks very much like the Baddad fender. My bags use a triangle shaped HD plug that disconnects with ease. I wouldn't let wiring hold you back if theres something you want to do with lights in the bags. If you search on eBay for LED license plate lights, you'll find some acorn style nuts. In the photo my plate is really a sticker and since has been replaced with a real plate.
Dirk at Bad Dad's is great to work with... look at the link in my sig and you'll see the Road Glide I did... new Bad Dad bags with custom LED lighting etc...Not one issue. With the shorter rear fender and the stock read tire.... ahh not liking it that much. Toss a 150 on the back and it may help some. Regardless it's a decent alternative to investing in a new set of bags or adding extensions and getting into paint and body work which IS costly and that I know from experience lol. I will add that Dirk and crew are nothing short of OUTSTANDING to work with and I highly recommend using them.
Very nice pictures Badbagger. Except for the skulls on the bags, that's what my rear end will look like when I'm done. Same tail light bar/shield plus frenched in tag.
Man I can not belive people do not like this. The fender is not that much wider it is just the fillers are wider. Just would have sink some LED strips in the filler for run/turn/brake, or maybe able to get the 09 cvo rear lights. Depending on cost to get it painted it maybe cheaper to do this than adding the Street Glide rear facia (thin fillers) and all of the other lighting I was planning to do.
One bad thing, I emailed Bad Dad some questions about two weeks ago and have yet to get a responce.
I just picked up a Milwaukee Bagger Long rear fender cover on ebay, isn't what I wanted, wanted the short one but this came w/the catseye brake/turn setup and a led plate mount, would have cost more than double what I paid to buy new, don't know how much fab I will have to do, mine is a '90 FL, worse case I remove electricle and buy a short fender if it looks like this one will fit.
Those one piece wide fender/filler strip pieces don't look right without a big fat tire on the back; and, even with the fat tire they look un-Harley TO ME. If you like the piece, your opinion is the only one that matters.
If I didn't already have the SG facia on my EG and wanted a project, I'd buy the '09 SERG facia and turn signal LED's. Then, cut off the bottom part so that you have two filler strips with the LED's to install. If I had an '09, I'd just do the same thing minus cutting the facia.
It occurred to me what the fat fender/filler strip piece reminds me of and it's those monster tractors used in pulling contests that I flip past on the TV that have large pieces behind the rear tires to catch mud or, oddly, a snow blower.
Frenching in the '09 SERG's LED's is not a simple project. Will the aftermarket filler strips be long enough to accommodate the LED's and their contour, for example?
Good luck with your project--just get what pleases you.
Yeah, love the Stree Glide rear fascia, just wished the fillers were a little wider. I am thinking about how to put a long led strip in the gap between the fillers and the saddlebag and leaving just a little room so they are not touching the saddlebags. How strong are the Street Glide fillers? I think I will have to make some sort of a bracket behind the filler that attaches to the chrome fender support and the other end stick out about 1/4" to mount the led strip. As you can see it is my mission to at least get rid of the turn signal bar.
