Question Head Work?

I am about to upgrade my 2000 Ultra Classic with gear driven cams with Andrews 26G's, new lifters, pushrods and maybe change the jugs and pistons to make it a 95". My question is should I do anything to the heads? I am not looking for a superbike I just want plenty of power for 2 up riding. Thanks.

It seems to me the most common answer to this question is Cam and Heads will make a bigger difference in your usable torque than the Big Bore kit will. You will also hear suggestions to make sure all your components match well and work together, and the easiest way of doing that would be doing everything at once.

I did the big bore kit, not the best money spent. IMO

Andrews 26 is a low to mid range rpm/torque cam so I don't think head work is worth it. Just have them freshened up if needed. Get a new oil pump also.

I'll like to hear some more replys on if heads are needed for 95 build for the average rider. I'm thinking of upgrading to.

I've heard great things about bigger jugs, cams, and definitely doing the heads. Not uncommon to get 95 and 95 from that setup on an 88cu. I'd be interested in some usable info as well.

I ride heavy on my UC most of the time. I have a 95" with a Harley cam and was happy with the extra power but have been told by a lot of "experts" that I should have had the heads done. If I ever have a reason to take them off I will get them done and go with a gear driven cam. If you are ripping the motor apart and can afford it, do it all at once.
