Default 25% more with Dunlop?

I have an 09 FLHT and the dealer claims that the Dunlops have an additional 25% more life than standard tires on other bikes. I have 5700 miles so far and it looks like I still have a lot of tread left. Is anyone getting a lot of miles out of these new Dunlops?

Every rider, ride style, bike, weight, air pressure, rider weight, 1 or 2 riders, roads, ect ect ect will affect the results. Just too many variables to know for sure.

I would agree with captjon's "ride style" thought entirely if the rider is on more of a "sport bike". However, with heavyweight touring bikes, I think tire wear due to individual riding style is usually reduced and the basic tire compound/construction becomes more important. I also believe the other factors remain relatively constant for an individual rider/bike combination regardless of tire brand.

There's an outstanding thread exploring "Dunlop E3's on an '07" here:

I always go with the HD Dunlops, the factory tires, and I get about 20K miles from my back tire, and between 40K - 60K from my front. This is an average for me. I always check tire pressure, ride on good roads, avoid hazards as much as possible. There are four hundred trillion different things (I counted them ) that could effect the life of a tire. But the key thing you want to do to make your tires last longer, is proper tire inflation.

If I said you got 25% more life from a Dunlop,25% off the price of a Metzeler or 25% more grip with an Avon which would you go for?
I've tried all three and I have Avon Venoms on my 07 FLHT.

I will be happy if I get 7,000 miles and ecstatic if I'd get 9,000!

Are the Dunlop Elite 3's the factory tires you mention swlamedic?

Tire pressure is a great point to make too but I don't know that any particular brand is more sensitive than another to that. That said, I'd neglected to check mine as regularly as I should and was down about 3 to 5 lbs in each before I noticed the change to handling (and stopping power). No telling how much tread I threw away in the meantime.

How many miles do you put on your bikes per year? I have Dunlops now but will soon need new tires 8000 miles last year. Bike is a 2006 flhtcui bought used last year so it had a few miles on it already 3800. Point is I do not want to but new rubber every year. I average 8k - 10k per year.
