Default Question about installing chrome fairing trim and windshield

I have a quick question. Yesterday I installed a new windshield and chrome fairing trim on my 09 Ultra and it took well over an hour. This is my first Ultra so I was being extra careful. The stock windshield popped right off, but when I started to mount the new shield I noticed that the middle screw hole was not lining up. The two outside screws were fine. I had to either push down on the fairing or push the shield back so the hole would line up better. Is this normal? I thought this install would take less then a few minutes. Also, is there supposed to be a small gap between the chrome fairing trim and the fairing? Thanks for your input.

If your talking about the trim along the bottom of the windshield then yes. The rubber washers behind the trim leave a small gap. Keeps the trim from scratching or cracking the fairing. It is important that there is no gap between the windshield and fairing halves.
I have no idea how it took over an hour. I installed the center screw first then lined up the outside screws, probably ten minutes or less.
