Primary noise............................
Dropped the scoot off at the dealer this morning. Tech seems to think my noise is coming from the primary rather than the engine, possibly the chain needs adjusting. Im hoping that is all it is.....not sure what else it could be

Basically it absorbs the engine pulses thus making the drivetrain smoother. The compensator nut has been known to come loose at times. There was a new torque procedure some time back for this.

Thats kind of hard to describe with words, it is rythmic with the motor at idle. You cant hear it above idle or while driving. Its kind of a hollow metallic sound. At first I thought I had a loose motor mount or something on the exhaust, but I pried around on it with a 2x4 while it was on the stand idling, and could never make it quit.
