Default Is it Me?

I found a listing for some HD engine guard peg mounts and pegs on Craig's List.

Sent the seller an e-mail saying that I'm interested and if he would take PayPal.

He comes back with cash only. I explain that I'm a PO and I want to be protected in case something does not work out with the sale.

He comes back with I'm a PO too and that's why I only take cash.

I then requested his info and agency info and if it's verified, I'll send out a money order. I really doubt he will respond....

PayPal worked for me well two weeks ago. I got scammed by someone selling a Dyson Vacuum out of Calf. PayPal refunded my money.

What would you do???

Agree, too many Crag's list items to worry too much about it.

Most people do not want to ship items from Craigslist. It's more of a person to person cash deal. Although I have bought a couple things long distance with Craigslist. Both times I asked if they had any Ebay feedback and they did, I then messaged them through Ebay for verification. If they don't have lots of Ebay feedback I'm not buying anything off Craigslist unless I'm standing in front of them with cash.

Tell him that you will take them and the money order is ready to go. You will send it after you recieve the pegs. My quess is that you would never see them.

Problem solved. Scam uncovered. Keep looking. Plenty of honest people out there to deal with.

Unless it is a super deal that you are willing to take a chance on, I'd pass. Something as low priced as peg mounts and pegs IMO is not worth the hassle. Buy for a reputable dealer and not worry about it.

HDV-GLIDE,
The seller is clearly not very familiar with PayPal. Once your account is 'verified,' there is very little chance of anything going screwy. In fact, once your account is verified, it usually only take 2 days for the money to transfer from PayPal to your bank account (at least that is what I'm seeing0, even though they state that it will take 3-4 days.

I'd be very cautious. Also keep your eye on the "For Sale" thread here on the HDForum.

Good Luck!

There has been alot of scams with cash deals off of craigslist. You meet them with said amount of cash and thats when you get robbed. Seen it on the news. NO CASH DEALS OFF CRAIGSLIST!!!!!!
