I noticed on my 09 RKC evertime i open the bags they bump into the docking hardware for the riders detach back rest...is there a company that offers something like a cover that will stretch over the top to act as a barrier?...im sure im not the first to complain of this...but when i did a search a million things popped up but what im looking for...
im thinking of having someone design a leather cover to go over the top....covers are easier to replace than the damn bags...but someone must have already done it...
If I am reading this correctly, you are having the same problem I had. The top of the bag is hitting the "V" trim on the deatachable backrest, and leaving a divet in the leather. If that's what's happening click HERE to see what I did.
what my concern is the docking studs bump the top of the bag lid, its causing some gouging on the top of the bag when i open it...lid rests on the docking hardware....i need something that will protect top of the bags when they are open...

I'm guessing you have an 09? Haven't seen one close up, but I hear your docking pts are in different locations. I have an 08 so I guess I can't help ya, sorry.
if it hits on the top lid edge inside(tire side)..specifically towards the back.
consider placement of a washer/ers on the bag arm/brace(frame side) so that bracket for the bag will be pushed just a little further out...if the bag is pushed further out it should rub much less or non when open....and yes you will see a bit more empty space between fender and bag when looking at bike from behind.
