Samson 29" Silver Bullet Slashers. Am I the only one with Samson? I can't say that I've seen anyone mention Samson slip-ons.

I have Vance and Hines true dual headers. So how did I end up with this set up? I bought the Samsons when my bike was completely stock. I went with true duals yesterday. The shop I use had V & H in stock. So there ya have it...V & H true duals and Samson muffler.
I also put on a Screamn' Eagle Pro Air Cleaner and Breather kit. My fuel management is a Cobra FI2000R. So far so good. I'm wondering what my gas mileage is gonna look like...

I personally like the Python slip-ons. I had always thought all Pythons tended to the obnoxious side. Not true with these slip-ons. They sound good, but don't cause me to think I'll ever get a ticket for loud pipes or that I'll disturb the neighbors.

some mentioned avoiding V&H if you're concerned with noise; I concur. My last pipes were V&H big shots staggered and they sounded damned good. The dB level just got too loud. I also became more aware of how may noise ordnances are being enforces in various places.

When comparing sound volume via decibel meter, such as was mentioned in previous posts here and elsewhere as well, please remember that the decibel scale is logarithmic. This means that a 3db increase in sound is actually a DOUBLING of the total volume of sound.
As for slip-ons, I used to have V&H basic slip-ons, which came with the bike when I bought it. They sounded okay, but I didn't like the slash-down cut (non-replaceable end caps), and one of them developed a slight rattle. I recently swapped them for a set of pre-06 SE II mufflers. Haven't ridden it yet, but so far it sounds good. I was surprised to notice that you can see through the V&H mufflers (open design) but not the SE II's.

I bought after I heard. Followed a bike that sounded so sweet that I just had to know what he was running. I bought the Kuryakyn Crusher slipons the same day for my 2007 FLHX. Mine have the trident tips.
I have had many compliments on sound and look. They are a quality piece of work and you don't see these on every second bike that goes by like with some slipons that get too much hype for what they are!

The Jackpot mufflers test quieter than both the Supertrapp SE mufflers and also the Rush mufflers with 1.75 baffles.
Now here is the question for you Jamie... Was this test when NEW or after a certain amount of miles. I really did like the Jackpots, at first. But after 3000+ miles they seem to have become too loud.

I really really am behind the idea of the 'tuned' left muffler, too. Just seems the packing kinda likes to wear out/in on ANY glass pack. These seem to be the BEST glass pack that I have ever owned, also. NO deceleration popping or any of that.

Just purchased a set of SE slash downs from Chicago HD and will give them a try.

Here's the deal... I could care less about warranty, and if can save the coin-- going to do a 117. If I do the 117, I will worry about THAT exhaust then. In the meantime, what I DO care about is dumb-*** LEOs writing me tickets when I'm 100s of miles away from home. I'm not about paying attention to my throttle for 'in-town' noise control anymore.

I'd surely be amicable to listening about the packing, Jamie. Maybe it's because I have done 3k miles under 40 or so degrees outside?

thanks

Thanks for that info. I think I'll give my Jackpots another shot on fairly soon as the power with the stock pipe/stage 1 is getting a little boring

SuperTrapp S/E slipons. They used to make Harley SE mufflers. Some rag did a review of them a couple of years ago and they were now loud with a lot of torque and HP gain. Plus you can find a lot of tips for them. I just found a pair of new HD 8.75" long slash cuts on the bargin table at one of the local Nashville dealers $28 for the pair....

does anyone have experiance with any of the supliers on e-bay that modify stock touring mufflers to different stages of performance or sound levels for the fraction of cost of aftermarket slipons? one company on there will let you send hime your stock mufflers and dooes the mod and sends them back to you. both ideas sound too good to be true, what do we know?

I have BUB 7's, and think they sound good. Not loud, but nice low rumble.
