Don't know that I would consider myself a "young fella" but I appreciate the thought. I love a nice Harley rumble but a poorly tuned decel pop drives me crazy and takes away from the Harley sound IMHO.

I don't know who called you that, if anybody. I said I liked decel pop and find it adds to the "Harley sound." Don't thank me.

I think it depends on the brand of pipes you have too. Anyway I have a SERT and it has been dynoed and tuned and I've always had decel popping. I have had Samson slip ons practically since I bought the bike and the bike has always run great even though I have always had some decel popping. I don't have a problem with it. In fact I kinda like it. Now a loud backfire, which I had with a previous carborated bike on decel, was because of a poor tune which when adjusted went away.

So can you define the loudness and frequency of the decel pop that you find annoying?

I'm just asking coz I heard before that w/ the stock muffler there can be some decel popping, but it's so quiet on the road you don't notice it, but w/ higher flow exhaust it's more noticeable. I had an 03 RKC w/ stock mufflers, didn't notice it, but this 03 RKC has the stage 1 download, SE intake and SE slip ons, and I hear some decel pop, but it's not backfire loud or anything, it's just a little pop that goes along w/ the rumble. Doesn't bother me and I thought it was normal.

Just trying to figure out if others think that's normal, or to some 0 pop is the only way it should be, and for what reason.

Thanks.

Default Decell Popping

Cant say much as far as the sert, but on the PCIII I can tell you curing decel pop is fairly easy, even off the dyno. If you have a laptop just plug in and fire up the PC software, get your map, save a backup, then go to the 0 throttle collom, and try removing fuel, test ride and if that doesnt help or gets worse then add fuel. In couple of trys it will get better. Just home in on the right settings. Popping happens with the PCIII mostly because bikers engine brake, some more then others, and if yougo zero throttle at 4500 rpms and are adding a bunch of fuel you get popping. Same if you are taking away to much you get lean pop. I would figure it is same with SERT.
