I think you also might be happier with your Honda. I too have been riding Honda's for almost 30 years but I knew that I wanted a Road King.

It's a different kind of mind set riding a Harley if that makes sense. If you have to ask then it might not be for you, only you know.

I don't compare my Harley to any other bike I have owned because it's different than any other bike I have owned.

I compare it to how I felt when I was younger on a motorcycle, the Harley makes me feel good if that makes sense. My mind is in a different place when I ride the Harley, I like the noise it makes.

BTW I have friends who don't get it and thats cool with me and some that drank to much kool-aid thats not cool with me.

I agree with what Arizona said 1000%. I am a member of a club where 50% of the guys have wings and the other 50% harleys. The harley guys never tell anyone what to ride. They are happy and confident in their choice. The Wing guys are always trying to prove their point (insecure) , I wonder why. They offered me to ride their wings three times and three times I was disappointed. I rode a honda VTX 1800 cc for a while but I am crazy about my 08 Ultra Classic. Come to the dark side, you will not regret it!!!!

Remember you are on a public forum you will get all kinds of answers. Good ones, bad ones, stuid ones, useful ones, funny ones etc... It would sometimes be nice to turn on the idiot filter but it cannot be done. You are a very brave soul to be venturing on here as an avid Honda rider. My hat is off to you! Welcome! The more you respond to the idiots, the more they will come out of the cracks. Just do as my momma always taught me and ignore the ignorance. Also though don't be too much of a prude because otherwise you will be a miserable person.

I gotta call BS on this. The Honda guys I ride with could care less what I think of their bikes and they aren't trying to prove any points. They are just as confident in their choice as I am in mine, and rightfully so. And I don't know many riders that offer "test rides" on their personal bike. I know I sure don't offer people on group/club rides to go take my bike for a spin? That's what demos, dealers, and rentals are for.
To the OP, I would suggest renting before buying on any bike. Good luck in your search.

Hey Yogi.......
Having been on the Valkyrie for 9 years and just under
100k miles, last spring I ordered a new R/G.
Knowing full well the difference in power and muscle
I was giving up didn't bother me in the least.......
I no longer crave rolling burn-outs and second gear
wheelies......
Its going to require a couple more adjustments to get the
comfort factor where I'd like it.....but these will be minor tweaks.

I totally love the R/G.....and its still difficult to wipe the
$hit eating grin off my face.

Come to the DarkSide Obie-wanna-canolie

Terry

I also owned a VFR 800 & it was a great bike. Your new Harley will have more character & soul plus you can customize it to the moon. It was time for me to slow down a bit and in doing so I've found that I enjoy my rides so much more & see so much more around me. Yes you are giving up the top end rush you are used to & you are going to a more maintenance intensive bike but the satisfaction youll feel cant be measured.
