Question MP3's and the Harmon/Kardon ?

I have made several mp3 cd's and the radio doesn't seem to recognize all the tracks. I have one cd that has 114 mp3's on it and while the radio always starts out on track #1 it will in a very random order skip over some songs and play say track #8 then maybe play #9 and then skip 5 or 6 tracks and play another one, it will eventually go all the way to 114 but having played only 40 or 50 songs and many of the twice. And it seems to favor some songs while it doesn't ever play others. The player plays regular CD's just fine, starting at #1 and going thru each song in order until the end. I have tried 3 different manufactures of blank CD's (Sony, TDK, BASF) and have tried editing the song file names and still no luck.
Anybody have this happen and if you did how did you overcome it.
These CD's were all burned at 12x speed 128 bit rate and as a Data CD.

I've had similar issues. If I record at the slowest speed possible it seems to work.
If I recall my slowest speed is 8x. If you have a slower speed you might try it.

I had similar problems. You're on the right track with trying different types of blank CD's, but there are other things you can try. The two main culprits in creating viable MP3 discs are the blank disc itself and the software you're using to burn the CD.
I'd recommend you try a different software program. There are several free ones out there. I use MediaMonkey. It's the best freeware MP3 library and CD burning software I've found to date. Hope this helps. Don't give up hope, you'll figure it out. Also consider searching on the web under "problems encoding MP3 discs" or something like that.

For under $30 you can buy a mp3 flash player that holds 1 gig of music, or about 10 hours worth. I have those pouches that mount over the flap closures on the lower fairing, and the player rides in there. A 12" double male stereo jack from Radio Shack plugs right into the AUX position. My whole music library is downloaded onto it. There a 2 gig units available too for not much more money.

I can't imagine what the problem may be. I've used my HK MP3 player (CD) using several brands of CD's from mediocre to excellent quality, including some ancient 4x CD-RW's, and never had anything but flawless operation. Since last September I've been using my Zumo's MP3 player more, for no other reason than to take the stress off the CD player which has moving parts.

It's a long-shot, but try cleaning the laser lens with a CD/DVD cleaner disk. They're available anywhere for <$10.

I agree with the slower burn speed. I had the same problem and this seemed to help.

Clear the album artwork for the mps inside of Itunes and reburn them.

I had this problem and another member told me he was having the same problem. For whatever reason "SOME" pics mess with the HK head unit.

Thanks guys for the replies. I do have a new phone that stores and plays MP3's and I may go that route. I've done some searching and it appears a slow burn speed and removing the art work from the music files is what I need to do ,Now I just need to figure out how to find the album art within the mp3 file itself

What software are you using now? I think that you only have to remove pics with Itunes.

I use mediamonkey as well, and you can remove the album photos with that program as well. Right click on the song, chose properties then album art tab on the top. I'm at work, so i'm doing this by memory.
