Default Service Manual???

I get my new 09 SG next month and wondered if I should pickup a service manual for it. This is my first HD. Is the service manual worth the $90.oo or can I get by without it??

Thanks,

Mike

I ordered one the day I bought my 09 Street Glide. Took about a week to come in. The next week I used it to install Fog Lights. It would have cost me 200 for the dealer to do it. A friend of mine helped me ( he does it just to find out how to tear apart a bike & put it back together again). This way I know what is what & where it is and how to get to it. Most important is to get it back together & working.

If you have the tools and ability to do your own work it is money well spent.

IMO if all your interested in is changing fluids and general maintenance you could get by with out it by reading this forum and your owners manual.

Two absolute must haves are a service manual and Touring Models parts catalog #99456-09. The parts break down schematics are absolutely indespensable when used in conjunction with a service manual. It will be $$ well spent.

I have both the service manual and the parts manual. Haven't used them yet but I'm sure I will in the future. Right now I just like having them as a reference when I have questions about the bike.
