Default Auto Tuner ??

I am new to the Forum and new to riding Harleys. Just bought my 1st Harley - a 2009 Road Glide - after 9 other bikes (Hondas & BMWs) and 130,000 miles in 5 years. I'm turning 60 in May and felt it was time to return to a cruiser and stop riding like an idiot on sport/sport touring bikes. Have had 2 Sunday afternoon rides totaling 519 miles and been quite impressed with the torque. Obviously knew speed would disappear with the cruiser compared to what I was used to so no problem to me adjusting there.

I am having the 103 Stage II Big Bore kit done along with Rinehart True Duals. I have researched on the Forum the many varying opinions about SERT vs Power Commander vs ThunderMax. Obviously many varing opinions about all 3 tuners.

I haven't made the final decision but assuming I decide on the Power Commander V is the Auto Tune kit worth buying for an extra $309 for a person (me) who doesn't know a spark plug from a piston and will never do any tuning myself? Also, wondering if the ThunderMax with Auto Tune ($989.00 though not yet avaliable for my bike per my conversation with TM) is justified at roughly $400 more than the PCV with AT kit ($598).

For the money I have spent in purchasing the bike and am putting into the extras I am not so worried about spending the extra money on the right tuner and auto tune if the extra cost is truly justified.

Happy riding and thanks in advance for any input.

My wrench says yes, but then he's the one selling it. I'd like to hear the answer to this one from some DIYers that have experience with both? I'll be following this thread.

Excellent choice of scoot from Harley! Also, good choice (if you go) with the PC-V as well. I suggest you work with Jamie at Fuel-Moto as you'll not only get great customer service but an extended warranty too. Post some pics of your "Roadie"..

Talk to Jamie about his opinion of the "auto tune" for you and your bike. He's the one you want the opinion from.
