I just had total knee replacement surgery on 2/19 and was wondering how long it would take in the healing process before getting back on the bike. Anyone else have a similar operation. Thanks in advance for your response.

How you feeling? How did it go?
I go in for my right knee replacement "computer assisted minimally invasive total knee replacement" (sounds like an oxymoron doesn't it?)
I go in March 24th. You tell me? I think you'll be back on the bike in a month!

Had my knee replaced last April and was back on the bike in July, about lost about a whole summer. Good luck with your knee. I don't have any pain anymore but everytime I move my knee and when walking it klunks, about drives me nuts. The Dr. says it is normal and will lesson with time but it hasn't.. I don't know about you but that was the most painful surgery I ever had. Lot's a pills LOL
Clap
My knee surgery wasn't a total knee replacement so I can't give any "This happened to me" comments, but when my ortho knee surgery was done I expected to hear the doc say to take it easy for X number of weeks/months. He didn't say anything so I asked him. He replied "If it hurts don't do it.".
Cool.. That's already my philosophy (Sometimes I even do it if it does hurt.). <G>
To clarify, his idea was that you'll do more harm than good if you don't use it.
I had knee surgery April 23 of last year, had a ruptured patella repaired. I was back riding 3 weeks later with a straight brace from my thigh to my shin. I went to Myrtle and everything. I sat further back on the seat cause I couldn't bend the leg, it was the shifting leg (I only used the toe shifter). I could not get the kickstand down with the leg so I leaned over and grabbed it when needed. I was suppose to be on crutches for 6 weeks, I used a folding cane when out on the bike. When stopped I tried to keep the weight on the right side.
All of this to say, You can do anything you put your mind to.
