So I finally got my parts off my bike and ready to paint, I am down to two colors. What I am looking for is a bright red, it is a firefighter bike now and I want it more red than that redish orange color.
I am down to House of Kolor Cinder red metallic, or house of color Fire red metallic? What would be brighter?
What is thne painter using as a base coat. I was of he impression that the base coat can effect the over all top coat brightness. Like using a silver would make it more brighter.

That depends if its a tri coat or a base clear IE: 2 part.. Hell look at the chip chart and you should be able to tell whats brighter.. HOK does have a chart.. you might try ppg stuff too..

House of Kolor Blue Blood Red is my suggestion. My brother and I are retired firefighters and we both had our Road Kings painted that color. His is ghost flames and mine was American Flag flames. Here's a couple of pics.
talk with your painter, if he's mixing his own color it won't cost you too much to spray a test panel. Then take it out in the sun, shade etc. That's a big step and alot of money to put out, basing the color on a little 2x2 square on the sheet. The painter will make it or brake it, put you have to be on the same page as him. Lot of varibles lighter or brighter base will usually only let the base cover faster with less paint, unless he's doing a tri coat.
I am a retired auto painter and the brightest red I have seen is GM torch red. Very bright. I don't ever recall seeing a bright metallic red. Most of the metallic reds I've seen looks more like a burgandy than red. Metallic red paints usually require a gold or silver base coat although there are others. HOK and other paint manufactuers should have chips showing the color over various base coats. For a non metallic red, a white base makes the red brighter.
mkbrower......you are correct, the metallic I picked is HOK Fire red metallic and it is like a maroon, but I love how it turned out with the reverse shaded flames I got. When I get it together I will have to post pics.
