Just bought a new 2008 classic while I was in Daytona last week. I could not believe the deal I got. The economic hard times must have hit Rossmeyers, cause I GOT A DEAL! I have been looking at the kings for a while, so I kinda know what the retail is. I am really excited. Just had to vent.
If it had 0 miles, that is a heck of a deal. I can see Harley coming 1500 off retail in these economic hard times for an 08 or 09 but you really struck a deal if they came down nearly $5000. Congrats, you'll love it! If they are doing that, things may not be looking good at all for ole Harley Davidson.

You have to also remember though that that bike will be 2 years old in 6 months so that is more reason to deal. Once new bikes on the floor get to that point in left over inventory dealers I know have always discounted them deeply. I bought my 2008 RKC in Feb 2008 for $1500 off MSRP even back then and prior to the current economy. They still had a New 2007 in stock then that I could have gotten for $3500 off. Also having an 08 which I love, I believe I'd rather pay the extra and get a 09 which all the changes made as they are some good ones. But it is of course still a great deal. Congrats!
i guess i bought my 09 rg to early (september). bud of mine just bought one in houston and got a sweet deal on both new bike and his trade. oh well, between that and having money @ stanford, what else is new?????

You have a good point. I said earlier that I bought my bike 3 years ago. I miscalculated. Old age I guess. Mine was 2 years old this past February. So like you, I bought my 07 King new in February of 07. I was talking with 4 different dealers around the state of Missouri from KC to St.Louis and they all knew it. I played the game with no avail cause none would budge off of MSRP. There's no doubt the economic times are changing the way Harley is thinking IMO if they are giving these kind of deals for bikes with no miles on them this early before the 2010's come out in July.

I bought my 07 road king classic at Rossmeyer's Oct 0f 06 and I did some hard negotiating. I walked away twice and finally did come to an agreeable price and bought it. I got to say that 15 grand sounds to good to be true. Maybe Rossmeyer's has changed their ways. I told them when I bought mine that I'll pay their price but I will not spend 1 penny in their store on service, upgrades, or any future business and I haven't been back since.
The bike had 22 miles on it when I bought it. Yes, it is an 08. But, I still have alot of the options that are on the 09's. They had an 09 on sale in the front of the store for 16,500. I just thought the 08 was a better value. It is still a new bike I got the full warrenty. Also it was a cash deal with no trade. I don't know if that made a difference or not....I put about 100 miles on it yesterday and it rides like a dream.
