Pretty important thread, you might want to read it all as the info has been posted saying - authorities are saying the "perp" committed suicide and left a note telling them where they could find her body. Unless I've missed something there is no one to capture.

May she be forever in the arms of the Lord, and may her family find peace here on earth.

What a tragedy.

As a female, I can only imagine the terror she surely felt going through that nightmare. I will pray for her family and friends. What a tragedy!

To the father who commented his girls should take a self-defense class...I HIGHLY recommend it. Just this morning, I tested out of month 4 of a 6 month Self Defense Class. If you've ever watched MMA or UFC, I'm learning much the same "forms", but with an empasis on "getting away" versus "fighting". Myself and a friend are the only 2 taking this class, 3 times a week. Hearing stories like this, re-confirms how valuable the stuff I'm learning could possibly be. As much fun as it is punching and kicking bags and grappling with the Jiu Jitsu guys, I pray I never have to use this stuff in the real world. But if I do, I sure like my chances now versus before the course.

For me, just as important as the techical skills I'm learning, is the confidence I now have knowing I stand a chance against a guy. Hopefully, that confidence alone is enough to avert an attack. Most bad guys won't "choose" a victim if they think he or she will fight back so they prey on "weak" or "non-confontational" looking people. Sometimes, even super "friendly" people. I'd rather someone take a look at me and decide to move on. Most women avoid eye contact with someone they are fearful of or when they're nervous. Through this class, I've learned something as simple as looking a guy in the eyes when he's approaching is enough to make him think you might fight back.

So, while such a course may not have done this woman any good, and I'm NOT judging her for sure, it MAY very well prevent an attack and will most certainly put the odds in favor of your wife, sister, daughter, g/f, etc of surviving one.
