Default Using a bike cover

I do not have an in-closed garage to keep my Ultra in so this time of year the pollen plays #&!! with my bike. I have two covers for it, one is the heavy Guardian the other is a light weight I usually take with me on trips. Neither worked well with the OEM antenna's. I changed out the antennas with the short ones offered by the MOCO and that helped. Then I noticed the tips were starting to bend on them just using the light weight cover.

So I went to Home Depot and bought a piece of 1/2" PVC pipe and a package of rubber end caps for $4.00. I cut the pipe into two pieces 19" long and put the rubber end caps on both ends. Then I drilled a hole in one end cap on each piece to fit around the antenna base. I had to sand one side of the bottom end cap so it would clear the lid on the tour pack. By sliding them down over the antenna they support the cover and keep the antenna from being bent over. The rubber end caps protects the bike finish on the bottom and the cover on the other end.

This is a cheap and easy fix, if you have the short antennas, that I thought someone else might be interested in.

I'd just poke some holes for the antenna in the cover.

I have a lightweight cover for trips. I added a snap-together plastic grommet, from a camping supply store, for the antenna to slip through. Works good for me.

Thought about doing that, but I didn't want to poke holes in my good cover I use at home so I went this route.

As I have one particular place that I park my bike, and I don't have a garage, I use a product that is called the 'Bike Barn' (I got the trike size). Have found it to be an excellent product with good customer service. If you check out their website, you can find a video that shows how it works. For trips, I use a half cover...that way I don't have to worry about the 2 antenna.

The cover I got from HD has a velcro slit as wide as the tour pack for the antennas. Slip the cover over the antennas and onto the bike and seal the velcro around the antenna. You might be able to retro fitting something like that on an existing cover. Al
