Default SE204 cams?

Hello to all. I'm looking for a little help with a cam question. I have a set of SE204 cams laying around and I want to install them in my RK. I bought a set of adjustable pushrods already. But can I use the factory pushrod tube covers with the adjustable pushrods? I have been told that the 204's are a direct bolt-in for a stock motor and they are a good choice for torque. Is this a true statement? Thanks in advance for the help!

I doubt it (regarding the use of the stock tubes). After installing my adjustables, I don't think there will be enough room to get 3 wrenches in there to set everything with the stock length tubes. The tubes that come with the pushrods (the SE kit anyway) are shorter for that reason.

I just put a 204 in my 01 Ultra. 88", SE AC, and Touring pipes. Definitely more torque. My pipes are holding me back a bit, don't want it too loud. Seems like all the quiet slip ons that give you power cost an arm and a leg. You can use the stock pushrods. That's what I did and it wasn't that hard of a job. I chose the 204 because most everyone who has them liked them and say they are a great match for a low comp. 95, which I hope to do soon.

Good Luck,

Tim

Seminolebagger-I'm glad to hear you like the 204's with a 88CI motor. I was hoping someone would give me some input on the cams, that has them in their bike. I just needed some reassurance I guess, since i never used the 204's with stock 88CI. The 204's were in my Softail when I bought it and they seemed to perform pretty good. But the motor was already 95ci and had some mild porting done to the heads. Just so you know my softtail with the 204's dynoed at 84hp and 102tq. So with some headwork and some extra CI's they should work good for you when you increase your displacement.
Matrix5- That's what I was worried about. It looks like I may be in the market for a set of pushrod tubes.
Thanks guys!

If you want to use the stock pushrods you got to pull the rocker covers and pull the rocker arms to git the pushrods out. Don't mix them up either.
This is more work. but if you go with adjustable git SE quick install Adjustable pushrods.
And can you do adjustable pushrods also.
And do you know how to realign the oil pump and have the pins to realign them.

I like the woods cams better myself.

Git yerself a manual. It will show you more about yer bike .
most of the 88cu requires that you have more tools and a press makes it easier since yer cams are pressed in the support plate bearings.

cardboard-I bought a set of adjustable pushrods. I'm wondering if there would be enough room to adjust the pushrods, if I use the factory tubes? Or will I have to buy a different set of tubes?
