Default GPS Mounts

My GF gave me a Garmin Nuvi 200W for Christmas. You that have GPS mounts....which do you prefer....the handlebar type, mounted on the fairing, or has anyone tried the one that mounts on the fuel console door??

Thanks...
Billy G

Made mine myself. About $20 and about 2 hrs. in the shop. I wanted something small and compact. It sits next to the left mirror. I use my 250W all the time. It works good here in Purto Rico. If you want to make one, just contact me and I'll forward more info.

My wife gave me a GPS and fairing mount for my birthday. At first, I wasn't real excited about the idea of a fairing mount, but I went ahead and installed it since my wife was so excited about getting me a good gift. I love the fairing mount when it comes to riding. It places the GPS in a great location for viewing and it is easy to reach. The only gripe I have is that the fairing mount places the device close to the windshield and it makes it a tad difficult to loosen and tighten the safety screw on the mount.

I would stay away from the fuel console door mount. The sun will hit the screen and you wont be able to see the screen very well. I use a Ram Mount, and it works very well.

I have done handle bar and fairing and am about to do the gas tank mount. Handle bar mount on the Sportster, fairing mount on 05 RG and back to handle bar mount of 07 RG. I just bought the Kuryakyn gas tank mount. I don't look at it that much but I do listen for turn directions. It plays through the HK radio. The reason I don't like the fairing mount is the cost and once you upgrade to a new unit (like Quest to Zumo 550 to Zumo 650) what do you do with the holes in the fairing?
