Well I finished my speaker and saddlebag project yesterday. I drilled out my saddlebags (very time consuming), cut out spacers for speakers using MFD all there is to do now is mount amp and wire everything up. I actually bought a used set of bags for this project. When I'm done with these bags they will have a baddads 4" extension kit. Here are a few pics I will post more when the I'm done with the extensions.
Props for taking on what appears to be a pretty time intensive project...but I have to ask;
1.) Do the speakers face the rear wheel? Won't this defeat the purpose?
2.) Will you or do you plan on using your saddlebags for touring or just for speakers?
This is by no means a "slam", just curious b/c I saw a similar project thread and I believe the speakers were mounted differently.
Best of luck on the remainder of the project.
Please explain reasoning for your process.(Or method to your madness as my Gramps always said) I agree alot of work so far!!! Looking forward to your results!!Thanks R.W.

Yes the speakers do face the rear wheel. And every1 with bag speakers that I know have them this way and the sound is unbelievable. When I'm all done 1 bag will still be usable and as far as touring I have a tour pack so I'm not sacraficing that much space and if I really need more space I can always put my other bags back on. Bucket there are a couple of different ways you can mount bag speakers but I find this way IMO the best sounding way. Speakers will be hidden so to speak facing the tire.
Might be easier to just cut a big hole and use some speaker grill material on the inside.
Akitakoi its a much cleaner look the way I've done it. I've seen the speaker grills on bags and I think it takes away a little more integrity of the bag verses drilling IMO.
