i was wondering if there are any special tools i need for clutch adjustment in my manual it dont sany any thing about a special wrench but in other books and links so talk about a home made tool i need to adjust my clutch this weekend any advice thanks for any help
If your talking about adjusting the clutch itself and not the cable it helps to have a "claws foot" wrench for the nut that tightens down around the adj. Screw. Thats all you really need unless you consider a torque wrench to tighten the cover back down. However, you can use a box or open end wrench to tighten down the nut. Needs to be offset though.
thanks for the reply back all i want to do is adust clutch the manual states to loosen the clutch cable then so on it does not say any thing about any special tools just a couple of open end wrenches allen wrenches i dont want to loosen the cable take off the derby cover to find out i dont have the right tools i hav'nt done this before i dont want to screw it up so what is a claws foot and do i need it to adjust my clutch thanks for a ny help im kinda lost
here is a neat link I found on adjusting the clutch pak. Check it out. All you should need is a 7/16 wrench i believe, and an alan key, and whatever size torx bit for the derby cover. ( dont forget new gasket)
No special tools needed. Do it just like the manual says and you're done. The paper gasket can be re-used but if it starts to leak just replace it and don't over tighten the torx derby screws. I don't use loctite here but use antisieze instead. Be sure to use the correct size torx (#27, I believe) since the screws are a little cheesy and a #25 will strip the head easily. Once you've got it done you'll say to yourself "that was easy".
t-27 for the derby cover, 11/32 for the jam nut and the allen for the adjuster. Loosen cables (1/2" and 9/16" wrench). Remove derby cover, loosen jam nut, turn allen adjuster in, NOT TIGHT, just in untill it make's contact, back off 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn, replace derby, adjust cables. 1/16th to 1/8" of play at the lever.
