I noticed a few weeks ago that my front fender tip light was out. Bought a replacement and now find that it is dim.....As in the filament is barely generating any light. Looks like low voltage.
Sooo. I take out my handy voltage meter, promptly touch the leads incorrectly and hear a fuse pop. Sure enough, None of the "running" lights work. Soooo, I replace the fuse and put everything back together and we're back where we started. Any ideas?
My '05 EGC had the same problem. I found that the clearance between the tire & fender is very small, approx. 3/16". My tip light wire had come loose from the cheesy factory stick-on retainer clip and had chaffed through, I had to replace the wire. The new wire doesn't come with the batwing-end connector so if you replace the wire you'll have to reuse that connector. I used construction adhesive to glue the wire in place in the fender and haven't had a problem since.

It sounds like you may have some corrosion in your socket. I noticed the first time I got caught in the rain that the front (and rear) fender tip lights were practically filled with water. I removed the lenses and bulbs and put some dielectric grease in each socket to try and head off any corrosion issues down the road.
