Rinehart tip problems???
Had an issue with my 2:1. The muffler was the same od as the hedder pipe. I called them and explained what happend. They made me a new pipe and took my old 1 back, even though I expanded it to make it work temporary.
Hey, my HD Screamin' Eagle Touring Mufflers came with replacable (selectable versions) tips too and I bought the Chrome and Black "revolver" tips. They are supposed to be remocable for easy cleaning of the chrome (under the black tip) but right out of the box those tips were a P.I.A. to initially remove just so I could install them. I don't ever envision pulling them off for cleaning because they were so difficult to remove while brand new and not even installed yet. Yea, quality has gone in the toilet in this Country with more and more of this stuff outsourced to China and other parts of Asia. We need a guy like Henry Ford back to straighten out our manufacturing process all over again before my Harley fully becomes a half chinese product.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. I have an 06 SG with the Rinehart duals. I bought the bike used and it came with the Rineharts. I have never attempted to change the tips but they don't have a good fit where they crossover behind the rear cylinder and curve down over the chain case. They rest against the chanicase cover which doesn't seem right. There are rub marks on the pipe and chaincase cover where are in contact. There is pipe support behind the rear cylinder but it doesn't have enough strength to keep the pipe from dropping or sagging. Any one else had this problem with the Rinehart Duals.
Someone did not install the left muffler/pipe assembly correctly. It will be close, but not touching. I'm surprise that it did not make any noises for you. I had to mock it up a couple of times on my old scoot.
I saw a Black Cherry Ultra with Rineharts the other day, and the purple end caps were a perfect match!
Maybe if you drill out the hole and rock it back and forth carefully, you can elongate the hole into a slot. Then carefully line up the screw so it doesn't cross thread in the end cap. A little patience and yankee ingenuity can save a lot of return postage and down time. just my .02

The tip on the 2-1 I bought turned purple so I sent it back under warranty. They quickly shipped out another one that looked great but the threads on it didn't line up. I did my best to get all the screws in and finally give up with only two of the three. I really like the pipe but an still disappointed that it's not what I expected for the money I spent.
