hard to argue with most of the points made on buying the '07 BUT I have the '05 in the same colors. 12k on the odometer. No problems and she purrs down the road just fine. just my humble opinion and my 2 cents for what that's worth.
The auction part would bother me and IMO, negates any positives to the '07...I'm kinda' **** about that part so I'd do a very in-depth title review before I'd pull the trigger on it. The $500 bucks difference between an '05 and '07...on the surface it appears to be an easy decision, but the '05 has only 3,300 miles so that swings it, again IMO, back to the earlier model. Can you live with a 5-speed vs. a 6-speed? I have and '02, and I'm ok with it. And if I really wanted the 96" + a 6-speed, I'd be looking for the best deal I could find on an '09.
If both bikes are standing side-by-side I'd suggest asking the dealer if he'd cut another $1,000 off of the '05.
And for whomever told you not to be a 'retard'....if you're from Utah isn't the proper term 'utard'? J/K...
Yes, Utard is more P.C. Thanks for the advice. I went to One of my local HD shops today and they are going to check out the 07 for me at no charge. This will put my mind at ease. If it checks out I'm going to get the 07 and dress it up a little in the future. Stock is okay for now. (unless I can sneak on some True Duals w/o the wife knowing)
Thanks for the input.
I have a 2005 FLHRCI and still LOVE IT. There have been lots of good points here but after having both THE LAST THING I WOULD DO IS GO BACK TO A CARBED. BIKE. Just my .02 worth.
I had an 05 RK standard and now have an 07 RK standard. I am very happy with my 07 and the 96" engine and 6 speed. My only question would be that the 07 is an auction bike. If the dealer can prove the bike is in great mechanical shape and they did the 10K service, I'd certainly go with the 07
ask to ride the 07 and listen closley to 5th gear when you hear what sounds like rocks spinning around a can you will know what ids is for if you can stand the noise of the cut gear then get the 07 but if you like quiet healthy sounding drivetrains stay away from the 6 speed just check the forum about this and you will see type in tranny noise and you will be shocked at how many 07 bike owners are truley upset that dealers or hd will do anything about it i was told to just live with it by both
