Does anyone know
why the msrp on an elctra glide standard is about $1,200 less than a road king? I've got a road king that I've had for about a year. The one thing I really want to add is a fairing, but I don't have $1,000-$1,500 for an aftermarket. When I bought my bike, I didn't like the look of a fairing, but now it's really grown on me. I was looking at e-glide standards on the Harley website and saw the msrp and thought it looked cheaper than on a king. I checked, and it is. I checked all the specs and options, and the e-glide standard is basically a road king with a fairing and different seat. It's pre wired for radio and cruise too. The only differences I could find were the fairing (which would be worth more than the big headlight nacelle and windshield) and the dash. Am I missing something, or is it just based on popularity?
In addition to what others have listed, the Hiawatha chrome headlight and passing light assembly and tank mounted speedometer probably has something to do with the price.

standard has basic wheels and the "blonde" motor, not black, and also very little chrom, if your gonna go e-glide just move up to a classic rite away and get the radio, the crhome and black motor and decent wheels.
The standard is a nice bike for the money. Like someone else said spend the extra for the Classic and get the chrome motor and radio. You also get the tour pack, you can always make it detachable.
The Standard is a good deal. You can add on as time goes in if your watching the budget and it is too much the first time through, but remember it is the motor color that can not be changed or added later...
