Question Best wire splice?

I'm thinking about adding some extensions onto some LED's that I have, and I'm wondering if there are any new products out there that offer a nice clean splice when adding another set of LED's onto existing lines. I did a "search" and didn't really see anything applicable. Any help would be appreciated.

Nothing better than solder and heat shrink imo. Not as easy as crimping connectors, but it is stronger and a better connection.

That's the process I've always used, but I was just wondering if there might be some new fangled idea out there that I'm not aware of. Thanks.

Solder and heat shrink.Any crimp-on or inline plastic tap are horrible for motorcycles.Case in point, My LED license plate light wire came undone from a crimp connector, grounded itself out and discharged my battery.I learned the hard way.

If you are not gonna solder I highly recommend using posi-lock connectors. Available at most Wally Worlds and auto parts stores.

A butt splice connector is ok if you use the proper size/quality and proper crimp tool that does not cut the insulation. The good connector insulation also doubles as shrink wrap when heated. I do agree solder is better but not eveyone has the capability to use it.

+1 Solder and heat shrink
I'm sure some of the connectors are getting better but, if they are going to fail, they will fail at the worst time. While it may take a couple of minutes to solder a connection, you have the peace of mind that you won't have to tear your bike apart in the dark at some point to fix it.

Just a slight variation to the solder is get a set of side strippers, poke a hold with a test light or a pick through the wire you are splicing into and then stick your wire in and wrap it around a few times. Then tape it and throw a tie wrap on it. Now, I know that it doesn't replace solder but it will not come loose or short out if done properly and I will stand this method up against any scotch loc, ttap or whatever have you..

True, but not a great seal.
