Buddy of mine called me last night and told me he got a new job and was leaving town. Unloaded his 06' Road King custom on me for a price I couldn't refuse. I have an 08' RG and have been riding with windshields and am not used to this bike without a shield. I am 6' 1" with 33" inseam. What would be the best windshield for it? Also, the handlebars suck. I like the Heritage bars. Would they be a problem putting on there? Thanks for the advice. T.
I think the 58325-06 king size mid-low profile shield would fine (pic attached). The best thing to do is bring the bike into a dealer and have the parts guy/gal bring a few shields out and hold them up to your scoot, or ask them to do it to a bike on the floor. We do that all the time. As for the heritage bars, no problem with putting them on the king. Could also try the buckhorns and see if you like them.
hey ultrasweet,
i have a 02 roadking the stock bars do suck im 6ft tall and i was leaning forward to far.
look and see if the roadking high handlebars fit they are 3inchs higher and you dont have to change cables ... they were nice but i switched over to 13inch mini apes so i could run the wires inside and have braided cables ....it was an expensive job and i did it myself .. as for the windshield im 6ft i use the stock windshield and im tall enough to see over it .....
I went with the Clearview Recurve on my '07 Road King. Really liked it; the recurve allowed me to go one inch shorter than stock and still managed the wind very well.
I'm about the same size and inseam as you and the stock windshield on my RK fits great. For bars also check out the RK High bars. I have them and love them.
at 6'1" the stock windshield should fit u good...heritage bars will also work. i put some baby apes on mine, basicaly the same thing and its perfect now. i am 6'
I put Wild1 518 bars on my RK, like 'em, they are little beach type so some do not like them. I put 15" shield on mine when I use it. Works good for me and I am 6'5". I too suggest going to the stealer and have them bring several out. Best to test!
Well I put on heritage bars, ISO grips, Vance and Hines Ovals and it is a different bike. I went down and sized a windshield and it looks like the stock shield may be OK but also looks like I could go 2" taller without going over my eyes. Thanks for all the input. T.
