Is there only 1 wire or two? It could be the wires that hook up to the throttle cable for the cruise control.

Is it not the aux power for the switch on the right side of the nancell? I remember my '98 had the switch on the right side and a loop pigtail so you can add an accessory. If you have the manual see if you can find the diagram. I believe that is what orange wire is.

I have cruise and it's not that wire. It's not controlled by the aux swithc on the riser either. it's just a hot wire with switch is turned on. it's not the wire that goes to the fender light either....guess it is the invincibility wire...may have to hook up to it there's only 1 wire and it's a positive wire

Orange with a white trace is the wire for the fender tip light according to the service manual. Domestic bikes only.

Orange with white trace is controlled by ignition, and i've used it to tie in power for radio, gps, etc. Why you have it hanging there is another question i can't answer. If you ever need power for accessories, tht will come in handy.

It has a female blade plug.
thanks
On domestic bikes it's called a "fender tip lamp" lead. There's usually a black lead with it with the same female blade connector. Both are common with the cigar lighter on bikes that have lighters. I use those connectors to power my GPS & garage door opener.

Just out of curiosity, you say it's only got power when ignition is on? Have you checked for power when either the low beam or high beam light is on?

Strange location for me, but my bike is a RKC, and have no idea about your line of bikes. I do think though that in my headlight nacelle there is a wire similar to that which would be used as a trigger wire for things like adding passing lamps or fog lamps, since most locations restrict the number of lights you can run w/ high beams vs low beams.

Just thought it would be worth double checking to see if worked on both high and low beam. Either way, it may or may not be designed to carry much load, could always ask a dealer if you can't find the right wiring diagram. Or if you're gonna keep the bike, maybe get service manual and see if it's in there.

ETA, all I saw were the big giant VSTAR letters, but now realize this may be a RK you're talking about. Anyway, don't know what or why it's there, but I'd still ck the light thing to be sure.
