Default PC-V adding Autotune - would you?

A few weeks ago I added the PC-V, AC and Jackpots from Fuel Moto to my 08 EG. The bike runs and sounds great. Jamie was very helpful. At that time I could not decide on whether to add the autotune module or not so I did not get it. I found one for sale here at a good price so I bought it.

My question, for those of you that have added autotune - Would you do it again? What are the pros and cons you see?

For me, my biggest concern is that if I needed warrantly work, it would be more trouble getting the bike back to stock becasue I would have to take the wideband O2 sensors out and put the stock ones back. Seems like several folks have posted problems removing the sensors. I like the idea of the bike tuning as you ride.

If the bike runs and sounds great, maybe it's a decent idea to just leave it at that.

Are you sure your dealer will give you a problem if you need warranty work if you have a PCV? My dealer suggests that anyone who owns a newer FI bike get some sort of fuel manager because of the heat down here in the South. They sell and install Powercommanders themselves. They have never given me any hassles when I needed warranty work done on the 2 bikes I've had that I'd installed Powercommanders myself.

Maybe call your dealer's service guy and complain about how hot your bike runs and ask him what he suggests to fix it. If he suggests a fuel maanager I don't see how they refuse to honor the warranty if they suggest something to customers to fix a known heat problem that all current HD's have.

I have the same setup and I installed the auto tune a few weeks after the PCV install. If my bike ran great without the auto tune and I was happy with the mileage I would leave it alone.

Also just last week I installed the Jackpot Dyno mufflers. I installed the new map from jamie and performed a test run. When I let off the throttle, you could hear some minor popping. After 100 miles no popping. So I guess the auto tune mades some changes. I think it really makes good changes and if you have bought it install it.

I just had my 10,000 miles inspection a month ago and auto tune was installed. The dealer said nothing about the auto tune or PCV. In fact they would probably not say anything unless they think the product caused a problem.

So basically I would not buy one knowing what I know now. Jamie's maps are to good. I would spend my money elsewhere. But now that you have it, install it and get the most from your bike.

Need to replace 02's with new wide band 02's and wire it in to the pc5.

That's an excellent idea. I will drop by and talk with them. The service guys are pretty good and easy to talk with.

I have some minor popping also. Not much but maybe the autotune will tweak that. Thanks for your post. This was exactly the type feedback and information I was looking for.

Default power commnader

I went to a dealer by my house and they only use sert stuff. the guy in the shop who I thought is usually pretty open about mods didnt like power commander stuff and wouldnt sell it,
weeks later i was near another dealer, actually the place where I bought my bike and he said they use power commander stuff before the harley stage 1 things. they have much more freedom with air cleaner and muffler mods. I asked about sert race tuner and he said the warranty would be void because they have to cut into wiring. with the power commander things just plug in and is external to bikes system. they wanted 500 bucks for pc 3 and didnt know there was a pc-v yet. for the cost of the pc3 at his place I can get a pc-v and autotune for about 700-800 with exchange rate added on from fuel moto, wish the dollar was at par again I end up spending about 160 more because of the cdn dollar being so low. and they seem to have unreal service from all the posts of people who make the odd mistake hooking things up.
I' probably order one as soon as I get a job, havent worked in 6 months , thank you oil companies for sucking the economy dry.hope you enjoy your bonus while the rest of us starve.

I doubt if AT will affect decel popping, as Fuel Moto's maps have no Target AFR's in the 0% column. When a "0" is applied there will be no AT in that cell and will run in open-loop using the value in that cell from the base map, just like it would with a PCV alone. Make sure you've done the Throttle Setting at 0% first, as if it is off that may be contributing to decel pop. Some say a leak around the muffler may also contribute.

I have "-10" in each cell from 3K on up, and that's the way Fuel Moto's original map was configured. My '07 runs rich at 0% from 1250-2750 RPM and I've leaned it in that range too, but still get no decel popping. I've never figured out the decel-popping issue, as some bikes seem to be plauged with it and some aren't. Mine never did pop, or at least did so rarely, and doesn't even though I've set the 0% column quite lean.

I sure hope you use it since I was in the process of buying the same one you snatched up.
