I don't feel I am missing anything. I have over 100 tq at 2,000 rpms. If I had to make the choice, I would still give up 10 hp and 10 tq for the looks and the sound of my true duals on my 08. I am not so sure the appearance would be all that different on the 09's. I haven't been around many 09's yet or saw many pipe changes on them.
The best way around this is to buy a Reinhart Slip on and use a header that is standard diameter. That way your not locked in to Reinharts headpipes. That is what I did..... Thank god I did because I have changed mufflers two more times after the Reinharts.

Now with the 09, I'm taking a different path and going with the Dyno Tuned Jackpot package installed onto the stock head-pipes. I cannot ignor that this Stage 1 system will cost about 1/2 the cost of duals and will give me a 15 to 20% INCREASAE in both power and toprque.
If you do go true duals, I would suggest going with V & H headpipes and a slip on of your choice. If you go with the Rinehart head-pipes, they have a 2 inch inlet at the muffler and so you are very limited as to your muffler choices. I believe that Rush is the only other company that makes a muffler with a 2 inch inlet.
I put true duels on 05 ultra last year best thing I did sound is great. didn't realy notice any loss on the low end but a good gain in mid and hi end you will like it
I had true duals on my 05 when I did the 98" build, Had Wild Piggs mufflers and tried V&H basic slash cuts. I went with 2-1 Thunderheader for the sound. With the TD on the dyno had 92 hp 102tq. With 2-1 had 94hp 110 tq. Not that much difference, but I love the sound of the TH.
The heat issue overrides the so called power loss. Sometimes I think some of these people have on board dyno's. Had duals for almost 2 yrs still trying to see where this lose of torque is
I put Rhinehart true duals on my Road King and noticed a loss of low and midrange torque. I ride a lot on two lane country roads and need to pass quickly which caused enough concern that I did the stage 2 kit. The looks and sound of the Rhineharts is great - but the black tips on the pipes, including the 2-1 on my Dyna, turned purple. They are guaranteed for a year, I had to replace all three. If I was doing it again I'd get the chrome tips.
