Go back and read the CVO forum on some that have engine problems, seats that don't fit at the tank, exhaust not centered at the rear and more dirt in the paint post than I can count. IMO, for $30-32K they are selling for, HD can keep their thrown together CVO's. A friend of mine ordered a yellow one. He took a pack of post-its at the dealer and stuck them on everywhere there was a problem with the bike. The bike looked like a ruffled feathered chicken when he was done. He did this in January and STILL doesn't have the bike from the dealer.

All i can tell you is my dad just picked up a SERG in the orange less than 2 weeks ago and dam that bike if freaking sweet. And it will get up and go.

I currently own a 2004 Screamin Eagle Electraglide with the 103. I am trading it in shortly on a new 09 street glide. That new frame and rear tire that matches the profile of the rest of the scooter, and the 6 speed did me in. I personally would stay away from the 110 motors as there are plenty of documented problems with the rear cylinder/liner/oil leak/heat. They are a sweet looking ride no doubt. I would also suggest that HD has upped the production numbers on the CVO (Custom Vehicle Operations) bikes each year to a point that they are not as hard to get and are more plentiful than ever. They used to be very hard to get and held their value well. In todays economy, and with the higher numbers, that just ain't true unless you don't ride it. CVO's with miles are not holding what they once did. My bike listed at just shy of 29 grand new, many have been sold at 20k or less with 10k miles and extras. Thats a pretty big hit for what was spent initially. You will hear the argument that 'ya can't build one for $30k with all this bling). This is true but most of what I enjoy besides riding, is personalization of my scoot. Change too much on a CVO and the value continues to go down in most cases. If ya buy new and have the cash, personalize the scoot your way, get some custom paint if needed, and if you wish to stay with HD engine parts, do a 103 kit with some non EPA cams and exhaust. You will have much better performance results. Just my humble opinion. Good Luck with your decision.

Yes, for the same money you can make a "one of a kind" bike, but you'll never make that money back on your "one of a kind" if you want to sell it within a few years. CVO's can be worth the price.

Put it this way: if you got a stock RG at MSRP (around $19K), after building up the motor, paint, chrome, etc, you'd end up with about $30K invested in the bike. An SERG costs about that much. If you then try to sell it within a few years, you're not going to find anyone who'll give you better than Blue Book no matter what you've done to it. So you're either looking at getting $16K for $30K worth of bike, or $27K for $30K worth of bike.

If you want to keep the bike more or less stock, or if you plan to hold on to a customized bike for a long time, then there's no advantage to going CVO. If you like the CVO's and it's worth the money to you, then go for it.

seen were worth it ride safe

Ask this question on the CVO forum. Most on here that say don't spend the money, don't have a CVO. I don't either but if I had the money and wanted one, I would get it. You sound like you don't want the flash, so don't get it. However, if you really want it, go for it. You will see a lot fewer SE CVOs on the road than individually customized stockers.
