Default Handle Bar Question

Is there a correct order when tighten doen the bars. Of the 4 bolts is there a pattern to torque them down? I went over a bump yesterday and my bars moved. The old a$$ puckered right up but once I realized what it was I was fine.

It is easiest to do one side then the other, if you still have the two piece clamps, you might wanna get a one piece that fits under the Batwing. I did that on my RK and the lest two years not one time has it been outta whack. Unlike prior to the change.

Ya mine is a one piece. I used lock tight and torqued it to the right spec's and they still moved.

As per the manual:

1.Loosely install screws
2.Snug upper screws
3.Check alignment etc.
4.Tighten front screws until upper and lower clamps make contact
5.Tighten rear screws to 16-20 ft lbs
6.Tighten front screws to 16-20 ft lbs

A file or dremel tool to rough up the outside of the bars, and the inside of the bracket will solve your problem. That way it provides just a little something for them to "grip" as opposed to the smooth on smooth surfaces..

The clamp is a PINCH clamp- so you snug the front first with the rear loosened (clamp is now catty-whompus front to rear) then you tighten the rear. You dont want an even pattern front to back.
