Cool Squeaking Sound

2003 Electraglide. When I let off on the throttle the bike give me a squeaking sound. It does this only when letting off on the throttle, not when I have the clutch handle pulled. It might be that the belt is too loose, I thought I would ask before jacking up the bike and wasting time guessing. It got annoying coming through the mountains home this weekend, every damn turn it squeaked...pissed me off! Thanks for the help.

Start with your heatshields and go from there. They will losen up over time along with the dramatic heat swings that the pipe goes through.

An easy first thing to check is the rubber muffler mounts in the rear by the bags. Put some soap or WD on them as a temporary lubricant and go for a ride. If there is no squeak then you can replace the rubber or sometimes just by loosening and retightening the hardware will make it stop.

You guessed right the first time. Your belt is loose.

I remember a bunch of posts like this back around '03. Seems like the fix was to clean the belt with soap & water using a toothbrush between the ridges in the belt and to be sure the tension was exactly right.

Just fixed what sounds like the same type of sound (chirping noise) on my 09, the belt needed adjusted--easy fix "if" it is the same thing (?). Always start out with the easiest and fastest checks :-)

Could be the belt, but I would lean toward the rubber isolater for the exhaust. I have that happen to me too many times. JMO.
