Default metzler me880

I'm a little confused. What is the actual size rear tire I need to order for my 05 ultra classic in the me880s? I called a couple of tire stores and they said they need the metric size, such as 140/85H-16. Not sure if this is correct.

The Correct size is the same size that came on the bike. That was a Dunlop MU85B-16. Metzler now makes that size. A lot of people have run 140 Metzlers on later model baggers, but the MU85 is wider by 6m.m. I measured both sizes of Metzlers. I think Metzler didn't make the MU85 years back, so they ran 140's, but they do now. I have 11,000 miles on my MU85 rear and it still looks okay.

So what is the widest rear tire that you can run with the stock wheel. I know that you may have to modify your belt guard. But can you run a 150 on the stock rim? I have a 07 road glide and want to get a little more meat on the rear of the bike.

I recently pulled the 18" rear wheel off my 05 RG to go back to a 16" rear wheel.

I traded the stock 05 silver wheel for a black 07 wheel and am running an ME880 that is: "150/80 B 16" on it.

This tire is much wider than stock and it "just" fits. I've got a few thousand miles on it's and it fine. Wear appears to be consistent with the 18" versions I've been running.
