When times are bad, only the best selling will survive. Some unpopular choices will have to be made, case in point the FLTR. I like it, seems they were on the upswing, but $$$$ talks and slower selling models walk. I can see it make a come back. My uneducated prediciton will be a water cooled affair

By no means do I have any insider knowledge, nor do I have a crystall ball. I pulled this out of my **** based upon people's opinion on the RG and water cooling. I bet HD polled a few owners and these people told HD what they wanted in a scoot. JMHO.

Sales numbers maybe, Road Glides and EGS seem to sit on the floor for a long time around here. But I don't know about the water cooling. Once in a while I ask the dealers if they are hearing anything about liguid cooling and they don't want them. Or at least they don't see any demand. Now, I will admit they didn't see the desire for ABS either, but I don't think liquid cooling will come as a result of polling owners.

One dealer said Haley is doing something different this year. Harley is sending the new bikes to the dealers a few weeks before they annouce the 2010 choices so that they will be on the floor ready to sell on that day. The guy I was talking to said the dealership owner is thinking about inviting the public to come watch them open the first crates. I asked him about the liquid cooled engines and he siad it is rare for Harley to make such drastic change without feeling out the public. So if one does come out, it will likely only be on one or two models. He said if the sales are huge, then they will make a mid year change. He felt the Vrod was that test and it didn't fly. But he admits he doesn't know anything. He is just suggesting how Harley did it iin the past. If that is the case, I'm wondering if the XR 1200 oil cooled heads are the future for other engines.

Excellent....... That makes my RG an instant classic. I'll be willing to let it go for a mere $50k.

It's a pretty safe bet that those models being retired will be replaced with something else, not disappear altogether. My money's on a return of the Tour Glide.

i would be in agreement with the oil cooled heads and a cvo streetglide would be nice but i wouldn't trade for one since they made the 09 models so much better. it will take a couple years of trial before anything drastic .that is the harley way.

No dumber then Honda's "bone-head" move of killing off the Valkyrie which would likely still be their flagship bike today if they kept it alive. (I still want one!)
