I use one when parking in my asphalt driveway - to protect the asphalt, not the bike. Had my driveway repaved a couple years ago and the asphalt is still soft enough that the jiffy stand will leave a mark if the bike's parked for more than a couple minutes

coaster does nothing more than provide sure footing for the bike in soft situations.

I have a Bike Barn and the coster is just laying there, so everytime I park, I use the coaster. Got one for the road in my TP just in case.

Keep a small square cover for an elect box in bag. Flat, thin, and cheap.

Carry 2 of them, if you are parked on grass or any sort of soft ground and the bike next to you dos not have one put it under there jiffy stand. Last summer I saw the domino affect in real life. One bike sunk into the ground and fell on the bike next to it.

you MUST use an authorized HD puck or it will void your warranty......yep anything else will cause the jiffy stand to no longer jiffy.....

I park both of my bikes in a workshop with a plywood floor so I can't vouch for the going to ground idea, although it sounds kind of unlikely to me. I do have an HD coaster type pad which I do use, it was a gift so no cost to me. I've seen others pack and use a 6" square piece of 1/4" plywood also, works, not very stylish but if you leave it behind, who cares?

Use a puck in the garage to protect the floor and carry one for parking on soft surfaces like sand and grass.
