I had the same problem with my 01 RK, periodically I could smell gas when I first started the bike and sometimes right after parking. I couldn't find a leak and didn't notice any performance problems. While doing the 95 inch upgrade I found out I had a hairline crack in the induction module assembly. After replacing it ($1065.00) I didn't have the smell of gas anymore. I'm not saying that's your problem but you might want to pull the air breather and back plate off and look at the module while starting and running the bike.
