Ok! It is official I detached my Pak and I am not wanting to dump 165 bones on a wall mount by Haulen *** right now. So for those who have not purchased one of these, what is the alternative?
THere's a thread somewhere with pics on how to make wall mounted rack out of 2x4's and pipe. Just measure the center to centers of the detachable bracket and fab something up. If you make it wider than the tourpack you won't have to worry about the tight clearances to the bottom of the pack.
I put a couple of strong hooks in the garage ceiling and used a couple of bungee cords through the underneath mounting brackets. Worked well and out of harms way, although Pak is hung oopside down.
I remember the home made tour pak , luggage rack and sissy bar holder. . Its made with treaded rod, nuts, eye bolts and 2x4s. Bolt the eye bolts into the 2x4s. Run the treaded rod through the eye bolts and nut them on both sides of the eye bolts so they will not move. Just make sure you mount them far enough apart so that the pak will mount on the treaded rod just like it would on bike. I will be try to build this later this month. But I did see something like on the forum. You might want to do a search. Just make sure you mount the 2x4s to studs on the wall.
