You need to decied where you want you power to come on. My Se251 peeks at 4000RPM but has power everywhere. Is you have an 08 or never look at the Se259e. Also while you have it apart look at doing the throttle body(bore yours out) for little money you rideablity will be a lot better.

The 2 cams are so close ,251-259e, I defy anyone without a dyno sheet to tell the difference. A tune will have more of a difference than the change between the 2.

Very true. The Se251 has a great track record. the Se259 is still too new and not many out there

First off, need to know what year bike you have, it will make a difference. If you are going to 10.5:1 high compression pistons, DO NOT use SE255 cams. If you have an 07' or later bike then the SE259E are the ones for the high compression you want. If your bike is 99-06' then use the SE251cams. Matching of components is very important. Don't use perfect fit push rods, get the tapered adjustables. If you have over 5K on your bike, go with all new lifters. Did you buy forged pistons or cast? Why not bring your heads back and flow, port/ polish yours? This recipe is based on an 103" motor and I would recommend you bore your cyl's to fit your pistons. Get an SE Pro Racing parts manual and read it before your build. HD does a great job of putting together the right components for street motors and that's just my opinion.

i have a 2009 flhx the lifters are bad so this what brought the whole thing on. i was told that if they are going to replace lifters do i want to up grade the cams and all i would have to do is pay the $25.00 differance between the 2 cams.the wrench advised me to go with 255s so i thought i would go ahead and just do the complete 103 big bore. so i started to read this forum and now iam not to sure about the 255s. i want everything to be compatable to get the best outta the kit. i know about the dyno to get the best performance but some people that i have spoke to tell me to just reflash and everything will be ok. i dont care about the numbers i want perfomance i do alot of riding in the mountains and i want torque. i hope u can make something outta what i just said cuz like i said befor iam new to this and i want right the first time. i dont want to do the trial and error thing. thanks again

It appears that SE has stopped having the 203's,251's, 253's and the 257's made for 07 and newer and 06 and newer Dyna. So the choice to buy 251 or 259e has been made for you unless a dealer has the 251's on his shelf.
