Just saw this thread -- the included glue was dried-up on my ISO Grips, as well, so I bought a tube of ThreeBond Griplock from the Stealer -- it sticks to the handlebar, but not a trace sticks to the inside of the Kury grip. Guess I'll try one of the other methods mentioned here...
I had the same problem with glue and hair spray. When the Iso grips got real wet riding in heavy rain over several days, the glue and/or hair spray would dissolve and the left grip would slip off. Solved the problem by just wrapping some electrical tape around the bar and twisted the grip on. No more problems and if I change bars I should be able to twist off the grip without having to cut or damage it.
I'm sure golf club tape would work but electrical tape is what I had handy.
3M weatherstrip adhesive. I've used it for years on all my bikes. I started using it on all my motocross bikes and it really held up well so. I then started using it on every bike. I just scuff the left bar with a little med grit sandpaper, run a small bead of 3M inside the grip, then slide it on. Works like a champ and you can get it at any auto parts store.
My little tube of Iso grip glue was dried up, as well. First I tried some spray on glue. That didn't work, so I ended up using some super glue. It's been holding for a couple of months now.
Thanks for the responses -- I picked up a roll of golf club tape yesterday -- I'll try that, and, just for peace of mind, I'll put a tube of the 3M Weatherstrip adhesive in my bags for the upcoming Sturgis trip. It'll remain a mystery why the ThreeBond crap wouldn't stick to the inside of the grips...
Super Glue Gel. Clean the bars with acetone/finger nail polish remover first....grips aint going nowhere!!!!! Ive purchased 3 pairs of ISO grips in the past 2 years and everyone of the bottles of glue was dried up.
my grips were installed by the dealership when new and the left one has come loose twice. both times after long rides in the rain. i have tried super glue but not with the proper prep work and it did not work at all. i think i will try the golf tape.
this place is great for tips
thanks
