Sorry for the delay, been out of town for the holiday. The shield goes down inside the fairing the same distance as the OEM shield (3" or so). Not sure about the speakers. The wider shield is great for the wind protection though. Seems to be about 2-2.5 inches wider on each side. I think it looks much better than the OEM shield. I can hear the radio much better also.

You need a lexon screen between you and the OL like they have in taxi cabs...lol - leave her at home if you really want a peaceful ride!
