Guys, I have heard for years that Corbin makes great stuff but don't depend on calling to get help. I have a solo seat that I am selling (won't fit my RWD stretched tank) I have had the seat on my 03 Ultra for 3-4 months, the part number says it fits a 06-07 Road Glide. There is a guy wanting to buy the seat for a 2000 FLHT, He calls Corbin and they assured him that it won't fit, I'm sitting here looking at the seat, a perfect fit on my bike and these guys say it won't fit. Do they not know what years their stuff works on. As far as I know from 97 to 07 the frames/tanks were the same, the only difference will be the length of the console. I think when they went to the six gallon tank in 08 it changed the seat mounting. Am I wrong? They don't change much stuff, I went to HD last week and the part I bought says it fits from a 48 to an 08!!!!! Thanks
I'm the guy that called them and that is exactly what they said. Funny their website has a section for 97-05, another for 06-07 and another for 08 etc. Mustang, C&C and others list seats from 97 all the way to 07. There must be something strange about their seats. Anyway Gary sent me lots of photos and it looks like it WILL fit.
corbins fit alot closer than stock...and that is the variable they acount for...most seats like HD,Mustang and others have a tab in the front and a screw in the back also they fit much looser as you know. So the question is how well will it fit..Maybe it doesn't fit to corbin's standards...
Why not go to the Corbin website and it will tell you if it fits or not. They did change the way their seats mount so that's the reason they aren't universal. Newer seats mount different and have a locking mechanism on them.
I called the factory with what I thought was a fairly simple request. "I want a seat for an 09 that sits the same way as the HD Tallboy seat." I called twice, and neither time did I get the confidence that the seat would be made correctly, so I did not order it.
Then I remembered about a post where someone went into the FL showroom and spoke to Sergio, and said he went the extra mile for them. I called him, and they were right. Sergio took the extra time to measure a couple of seats vs. the HD stock seat so I was ablle to order with confidence. The seat came a couple of days ago, and it's great!
Bottom line, call the FL showroom and talk to Sergio, he'll set you straight.
Well, I got the seat, and it fits. It doesn't just sort of fit, it fits well, IMO. I don't have any photos yet. On top of the fit it feels GREAT to ride. Totally different from others I have tried. And thanks to gabulldog for the excellent purchasing experience.
