I'm just wondering about the durability of the Iphone vs Blackberry. I've heard/read the blackberry was created for more of the business world and is very durable. My wife uses the crap out of hers, and has for well over a year with no problems. Also, I'm not sold on using a touch screen vs keyboard, as I hate trying to look through fingerprints all the time.

You really dont notice the finger prints on the iPhone. I have been running on for almost 2 years and it does become your new best friend. On countless trips I have been able to check the live weather where I am at that very moment, great for dodging storms or figuring out how long you have to wait for them to end.

If you get the otterbox defender case you can drop and even get the phone wet with no issues.

Been looking at them all morning. Looks like if I get one now, I/we can all get the new 3.0 OS free as an upgrade when it's released in June/July. Thanks for all the help.

Use to have a Samsung BlackJack with Windows Mobile. It worked pretty well, but once I switched to the iPhone I wondered why I waited so long.

Hands down the absolute most useful phone/device/gadget I've ever owned.

That little thing is the 2nd most useful gadget/device I've ever purchased (2nd only to my iPhone). Put them all together, I can travel and still have access to everything I need.

Default Blkberry- gps- music- email

I got a blkberry curve 2 yrs ago so that I could get all my email- instead of the lap top - lap top is a pain- when I told the sales person that I needed a gps also cause I am not finding the roads like I used to she said "got ya covered". So it has worked out beautifully- I love it- and the gps is in the phone- perfect- and I can get on any of the web pages I use and interact on them. I can see the screen well and type in responses and be on chat lines like this, no problem. GET A BLACKBERRY!!!!
But, I was getting ready to buy a pda or a small radio so that I could listen to some tunes or radio while on my long trips while using ear plugs.
The blkberry does that too. So I downloaded a slew of my favorite old time rk -n-roll and tested it out last wk end- works perfectly. I put the ear buds in under my helmet and the cell phone in my shirt pocket of my coat. Better than a radio and speakers on the bike. Only thing to complain about is I have to wear a helmet to keep the ear buds in. Any suggestions?

I have a Samsung BlackJack with Windows Mobile. I am waiting for the new iPhone to come out in a couple on months before I upgrade. Have been reading some pretty good things about it on line and you can down load some pretty cools FREE apps for it.

It's not a "new iPhone" per se, but more an OS upgrade. The new units will come with OS 3.0, but the OS will also be available for existing units via the iTunes updater.

Hardware isn't being upgraded, only software. Point being, no need to wait if you're waiting on a unit based on upgraded hardware.

The number of apps available for this thing is astounding.

Phurion,
I have gone done the MacBook route for a variety of reasons. As a PKI Engineer for work, I live in the "Windows" world, but am awful tired of having a higher end laptop with XP SP3 or Vista that constantly is in need of TLC.

My work laptop has the most horsepower I could get in November 2008, and yet...there are occasions when the darn thing just doesn't want to play. I have direct contact into Microsoft, so I've voiced my concerns (politically nice, so as to get the required respose(s) from MS) and yet, the Windows OS just seems to get more and more bloated.

I've been Beta testing Windows 7 for a while now and it appears to be a bit better than Vista, but still doesn't even come close to the peformance of OS X.

My MacBook (white, 13.3" screen with 4GB of RAM) can run a number of applications as well as running Parallels with a Windows XP SP3 image that has SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition and other stuff on it, using only 1GB of RAM and it will smoke my work laptop with 4GB of RAM that just has Outlook 2007 Running.

I will be upgrading my HDD to an SSD drive, once the prices come down for the bigger drives (a 500GB SSD was displayed at CES in Las Vegas in Feb).

From an 'ease of use' standpoint, I think the Mac is really taking market share away from Microsoft and if the folks in Redmond don't wake up, they may find themselves in a very unexpected spot.

All that said, I do like to have my MacBook with me on trips, so that I can download pictures from my camera the post to my website / blog.
