I have a SG with no engine or exahaust mods. The bike ran ok but would go into heat management mode when it started to heat up - idle would drop to 700 or 800 RPMs - typical stuff I have been hearing about the 06 EFI bikes. I dropped the bike off at the dealer a couple of weeks ago for the 1,000 mile service and I told them about the issue. I figured I wouldn't mention the fuel injector advisory that HD put out, but just let them do their job and see what happens. Well, I picked the bike up a week ago and sure enough the problem has gone away! On the reciept it lists the issues I wanted them to look at, including the rough idle and the tech's comment was just "adjusted idle". Now, this is the first EFI Harley I've owned, but I didn't think you could just adjust the idle like you can on a carb bike without loading a new software map. But I tell you the bike runs now just like they turned the idle up a bit - it's perfect, cold or hot. I double checked the number on the injectors and I still have the 27625-06 injectors in there, so they weren't swapped out for the new ones. I did notice that the numbers are in a different position then they were before I took the bike in for service, so they definately moved/adjusted them in some way. I'm going to stop by the dealer this weekend and ask for some details on what they did. I'm not complaining because the bike is running great now - just curious. Any ideas?
I dropped my bike off at the dealer yesterday to investigate a similar problem. Very rough idle after riding a while, but it also hesitates at cruising speed, and stalled out on me a coule of times at stop lights. I have the 8* injectors also, but the bike fires right up. And it does seemed to be running hot; at least my headers are not blue, just a slight dirty yellow. I gave the Service Manager the service bulliten, and said this may be the problem. He said he'd find out.
I'm waiting to see what he says, but I know a lot about engines and EFI systems, and I'm pretty sure it's my injectors.
They could have updated the map. I'd be curious to see what they say about yours. Let us know.
Talked with the service manager on Saturday - the tech that actually did the work was off that day, but he's sure they did one of two things: Either they loaded a new map, or they adjusted the idle through the software. I didn't think they could adjust certain parameters of the map without something like the SERT installed (which I do not have). I have a feeling they loaded a new map because not only is the bike idling much better, but my fuel mileage has gone up significatly as well. The low fuel light comes on at 180 miles now - it used to come on around 160. The bike also seems to run cooler now too.
Well, I picked up my bike Friday. They changed the injectors and remapped the ECM, jsut like the bulliten states. Runs much smoother now. I'm curious to see what it will do to my mileage, though. I hear the fix lowers mpg a little.

I took delivery of my new SG (stage 1 a/c, SE slip-ons) about 3 weeks ago (what a bike). Basically it ran good for about 100 miles then started idling rough, excessive backfiring on decel, tentancy to stall at stops (I think it was in heat mgmt mode). I checked and I have the 25 deg injectors. I finally took it to the dealer and all the tech did was reload the map and now it runs great. He told me he's had to reload the map in about 5 or 6 new bikes after thay've been on the road for awhile. He's not sure why, but they're losing their download and reverting back to the default map. Hopefully it won't do it again. For what it's worth he told me he uses the stage 1, 95 cu in map on bikes with my setup and they seem to run the best. Hope this helps.
P.S. Yes the front brakes squeak and he told me they'd look at them when I bring it back for the 1000 service.
