Just bought an '03 FLHT Standard. Any suggestions on what stereo to install? Something not too expensive and of course have to get the hogtune speakers.
<<Not too expensive>> rules out most of the H-D products, unless you can find a good deal on ebay. Otherwise, any head unit with a wired remote can be adapted to work with your handlebar controls. Around here, Sony seems to be the popular choice. Bear in mind that rain might be an issue for non H-D units.
I like the looks of this deck and has a front AUX input for an mp3 player. Then go with a Biketronics kit so that you can use the handlebar controls. Deck can be found on Ebay for a bit over $100. GT 300 and GT 400 are the same except you can change the display colors on the 400. BTW I have this unit in my boat and it sounds great, Hogtunes is a must as well.
Slam dunk. Just go with Biketronics and use the factory wiring. For hundreds less you'll have an am/fm/cd/mp3 deck that will work. Slap in the Hogtunes and call it a day...

I just installed the GT300 with the biketronics kit tonight and the install went easy and the stereo sounds great with my Hogtunes speakers. I have not riden with it yet because I just finished at 2:00, but I will let you know how it sounds on the road tommorow. I can already tell it will sound better than the Harley stereo. I got the new kit for free by selling my stock stereo.
I only wish I could figure out how to burn MP3 data to a cd.
I just installed the GT 300 w/ the biketronics module on my 05. It's an excellent combination. The radio works very well, no problems w/ CD Player skipping, good reception, love the aux input for my ipod and of course you always can add either XM or Sirius. I chose Sirius. All handlebar functions work flawlessly. As expected, all speakers are Hogtunes. The only thing I would recommend is that you purchase everything through Biketronics. Mike is great and his pricing on the radio will match or beat almost anything out there. More importantly, he backs up everything he sells as does Pez with his Hogtunes.
