Default Saddle Bag Liners

I checked for a thread on "felt" saddle bag liners, I don't mean the removable ones but the ones like "Sumax" sales. Have any of you guys installed these? I saw an article in a magazine showing the install but the edges looked "ragged" in the finished photos. The previous owner of my bike must have carried rocks around in the bags as they are beat up really bad inside. Thanks

I put the Sumax set in my 06 FHLPI. The install was pretty straight forward if you use A LOT of the spray on adhesive: it lets you slide the felt around some before it sets.

But you are right: the top edge does look ragged since they don't send any trim to put around the opening. I have had to re-apply the adhesive and re-stick the edges at the top a couple of times in the past year If I couple find a rubber gasket or seal piece shaped like the top edge of the bag, I would use it.

Overall, I wouldn't rate it as one of my smartest purchases.

The edges do line up if you take your time and start from the top edge down.

I learned this after I started the first bag from the bottom and worked upwards.

I got the Drag Specialty kit which has the sticky backing already installed. That stuff is super sticky, so make sure you have the felt piece in the correct location before pushing down on it.

i got a set off of e-bay. they have velcro around the top.and the bottom you just cut a small piece of velcro or double sided tape and the more you use them the more they become shaped to your bags.they are not sumax but a good value and removable for cleaning.

I was considering getting a the rattle-can version of truck-bed liner and spraying the inside of the hard bags with it... don't know if it would work/stick.

Problem with that is, you would still have a hard surface that will scratch up helmets, etc that would rub against it while the bikes moving.....

I repainted the insides of mine and use Harley lift-out liner bags. Got one for the tourpak too. Makes loading and unloading the bike so much simpler.

+1 more for this. But I did not re-paint the inside of mine. I have had them in my hard bags for over 3 years. They work very nice to protect just about anything you can pu tin there. I also have the one for my King Tour Pack too. I think that it helps a lot with the tour pack and what you put in there.

I have the e-bay ones as well. They work and fit fine.

Another option is to buy the Harley liners. I think they are velcro mounted too.
