i use the harley scratch remover, works good. the best wax to use is the meguiars nxt, purple and green bottle. i have vivid blk with no swirls or scratches at all. try it all my friends have and loke it.
I am new to Harley FYI.
I have an '06 FLHRI and I am apparently a "Tank Squeezer". My jeans tear the hell out of the paint on the gas tank (All black) leaving swirlies, cloud formations, and general scuff marks. I have tried to clean it up with scratch remover and lots of Pig Snot, but unless I make an effort to ride with my legs at 45 degree angles, I keep scuffin' it up....
Am I the only one? I want my RK to be "perfect" and this is KILLING ME!
What to do? Will a tank bra help? I am 6' 2" by the way...
Its a Liquid Polish in a tin can with a Red Corvette on the lable. Murrays or Auto-Zone carrys it Costs 18.00 - 20.00 bucks a can. Read the can, it builds a protective layer with every coat used.
It really makes Black and Red POP!! Ive been using it on my truck that was painted Black with single stage Urethane, when its clean it looks wet.
I have never heard that before. What is causing you to clamp your thighs to the tank? Don't your legs get hot from being so close to the hot engine? I have to ride with my legs at 45 degrees, or place them on the highway pegs. The only time I would put my legs close to the engine is when I'm doing a lot of twisties in the mountains. Even then, I wouldn't do it to the point of scuffing up my tank.
You're not a nervous rider are you? No offense here, just a question.

Sooooo...am I riding wrong or what? I really have to force myself to not squeeze the tank.
Kahuna, of course I am a nervous rider! There's a helluva lot of money between my legs...and no offense, about the nervous part.
I have had dirt bikes growing up, and I live in Montana so lots of riding is in the curves. I am sure I was a tank squeezer on the old Hondas and now I am just doing what I have always done. I just never gave a damn if the dirt bike was scratched, who could tell.
Thanks for suggestions everyone, RELAX RELAX RELAX...got it.
