They'll just make an excellent ride even better! I love My Street Glide...but the Road Glides ride is much smoother! Sit tight and just enjoy your bike. Value...nothing will change...it's another harley touring bike! Very few thing will retain the value you think they should! Although...My harley hasn't dropped the amoutn My car has dropped and they are the same year!
My 09 RG is an absolute KEEPER! I only mentioned value retention to gauge possible market interest in the future.
I wouldn't mind seeing prices take a hit as my old RG is still on the dealers floor. It's an 01 SE that I wouldn't mind owning again.
Every time a check tire pressure I truly miss those Thunder Star wheels.
This is my third frame mounted fairing Harley , first one I kept four years , second twenty years , and this one shud last me till I leave this world ..
Owning a discontinued model dosn't mean much.
It happens with cars all the time.
If you really think about it, it is not a discontinued model. It is the same bike as all the other touring bikes. The only big difference is the fairing and that can be changed to a Bat wing if owning a discintinued model bothers anyone that much.
I'm happy with my bike and don't plan on getting rid of it in the near future.
I recall back in the 80's and 90's the Tour Glide , I was told , by someone in the know , was being built at the rate of one to every 15 batwings ~ ..
It has never been a big seller , but , it has never been built in large numbers compared to Harleys other dedicated hard bag tourers .. But they always sold all they had ..
I believe it is defintely more popular out west than back east ..
Like everybody else in this economy , they're having to cut their losses , but I think like scoothnc , there will be some type of frame mounted fairing bagger in the werks ..
Resale values on Harleys or almost anything else for that matter are not what they once were.I recall a few years ago when you either had to pay way over on the M.S.R.P. or get put on a waiting list to even get a Harley, but the dealers are more friendly these days.I plan to keep mine for a long while.
